Rental policy
Rentals opening soon. These terms describe how rentals will work when they launch.
The lender and renter agree on a one or two day rental, pickup place, pickup time, and exact return time in their Dress Code chat before handing over the outfit. Keep the conversation and photos in the app so both sides have a record.
Requests and handoff
The renter authorizes their card with the request; a temporary hold may appear, but payment is collected only when the lender accepts. Requests must be accepted within 24 hours, before pickup, and before the card authorization expires, whichever comes first. A booking is confirmed only after successful collection. Declined or withdrawn requests are not charged; banks control when released holds disappear. Meet in a public place and check the outfit together at pickup and return. Photograph any existing marks or damage before the renter takes it.
Price and Dress Code fee
The renter sees the lender’s rental price. For requests made during our introductory offer, Dress Code takes 0% commission: on a $20 rental, the owner receives $20 before actual card-processing fees. There is no scheduled end date for the introductory offer. We will notify users before introducing the standard commission of 15% ($3 on a $20 rental), leaving $17 before processing fees. Each request locks its commission rate when created; accepting or returning it later does not change that rate. This offer waives only Dress Code’s commission. Processing fees, taxes, late fees and damage charges are not waived. Stripe test mode is active; only test payment details may be used. Dress Code pays its own Connect platform costs. Taxes, when configured, are added separately at checkout.
Cleaning and condition
The renter is responsible for cleaning the outfit according to the lender’s care instructions before returning it. Normal wear from careful use is not damage. If the outfit is lost or damaged beyond normal wear, the renter owes the replacement value shown on the listing. The lender must disclose that value before accepting a request.
Late returns
There is a one hour grace period after the return time agreed in chat. After that, only daily late fees apply: 150% of the original rental price per late day. Each late day is a 24 hour period, and a started late day counts as one day. There are no hourly or prorated hourly late fees. For a $20 rental, the daily late fee is $30. Message the lender immediately if a return will be late. Late charges and damage claims require a review; they are not charged automatically.
Cancellations
Either person may cancel before acceptance without a rental charge. After acceptance, a renter who cancels at least 24 hours before the agreed pickup time receives a full refund; cancelling within 24 hours before pickup receives 50% of the rental price back. There is no rental price refund after pickup. If the lender cancels or cannot provide the described item, the renter receives a full refund.
Problems and claims
Tell the other person in chat as soon as an item is missing, damaged, or substantially different from its listing. A lender making a damage claim should send photos and the stated replacement value within 48 hours after return. The renter can respond with pickup and return photos. Dress Code will review the record before deciding what to charge or refund and attempt to recover funds from the lender when a refund is due. Damage and late charges are not charged automatically.
These are the operating rules for the Dress Code pilot. Checkout and payouts run in Stripe test mode until configuration and testing are complete. The owner’s share at the request’s locked commission rate, less actual processing fees, is released after acceptance and successful collection. It does not wait for return. Stripe processing, verification, and bank payout timing still apply. Refunds after release can require recovering funds from the owner. Late and damage charges are separate from the original authorization and require review and a separate payment.
